My Writing Goals

Setting challenging goals is one of the best things for an author to do. The hard part about goals is in keeping them. Invariably, if the goals are not known to anyone else, it is all too easy to ignore them, and make up excuse after excuse for not following them. At least that's the way it is for me.

In order to help me keep these goals, I'm posting them here so it becomes public knowledge. By doing this, I hope to keep myself honest and on the right path to becoming a professional and published author. Ok, so here they are:

  • Write 1,500 words daily. (This does not include revising and editing previous work)

  •  Complete the rough draft of a new short story every month.

  • Submit at least one new story to a professional market every month as determined by SFWA - Science Fiction Writers of America.

  • Submit a new story to The Writer's Of The Future Contest every quarter.
